The inelastic light scattering laboratory is devoted to Raman and Brillouin light spectroscopy. The laboratory has three mains setups:
- the high-resolution Raman setup;
- the micro-Raman spectrometer;
- the Brillouin light scattering setup.
High-resolution Raman setup
The high-resolution Raman setup is based on a Horiba Jobin-Yvon U1000 spectrometer and it is specifically optimized for low-frequency measurements on disordered systems: liquids, glasses, biological materials, etc. Its main components are:
- Oxxius 532 nm DPSS laser;
- Horiba Jobin-Yvon U1000 spectrometer;
- low-noise water-cooled photomultiplier detector.
Measurements can be done in standard conditions or with dedicated sample environments for high and low temperatures (from 4 to 1300 K).

Max laser power | 300 mW |
Gratings | 2 x 1800 lines/mm |

Micro-Raman spectrometer
The micro-Raman is an Horiba Jobin-Yvon LabRam Aramis integrated confocal system. The spectrometer is equipped with four diffraction gratings and three lasers. The detector is an air-cooled CCD. The system has a xyz-sample stage for mapping.

Brillouin light scattering setup
The Brillouin light scattering setup allows the study of acoustic excitations in the GHz regime (i.e. below 1 cm-1) in crystals, liquids and disordered systems. The core of the setup is the Soprà DMDP2000 double-pass, double-monochromator spectrometer. This instrument is equipped with a couple of two-meter focal-length diffraction gratings, operated at the 11th diffraction order. The main components are:
- 514nm DPSS laser ;
- Soprà DMDP2000 double-pass, double-monochromator spectrometer;
- low-noise water-cooled photomultiplier detector.
Measurements can be done in standard conditions or with dedicated sample environments for high and low temperatures (from 4 to 1300 K).
